The journey from administrator to mortgage advisor

In the financial industry, we firmly believe that practical ‘on the job’ experience is key

Our team have over 200+ years combined industry experience, so when recruiting for new brokers we always look to add to this diverse pool of talent with advisors that already have some years under their belt.

This isn’t to say that we don’t believe in supporting emerging financial talent! We actively encourage our administration team to study for their CeMAP to become brokers themselves, and we offer funding for this to assist them in gaining their qualification. We firmly believe that a solid foundation is the key to success for any broker, and a minimum of 1 year in our admin team will certainly give any aspiring advisor this. By becoming well versed in ever evolving criteria, products, and overall changes in the marketplace, advisors can hit the ground running when they transition into offering advice to clients.

Two fine examples of this practice are Kelly Leat and James Phillippo. Kelly has recently become a fully qualified Mortgage Advisor after gaining several years of experience in Administrator and Paraplanner roles.

James following experience in an estate agents as a valuer, decided the property industry was where he wanted to be. During the first lockdown of 2020 he took it upon himself to study and enrol on the CeMAP qualification, passing his final exam in July 2021. Rather than jump straight into advising, he has spent a year administrating cases to further his experience.

May we take this opportunity to congratulate Kelly and James and wish them every success as they look to begin the next stage in their career.
